THEOLOGY OF WORK SEMINAR | RTS alumnus, Orlando Rivera will be speaking for an RTS Orlando sponsored seminar on The Theology of Work Saturday, January 23, 2016, 9:00 am – 4:00 p.m. The TOW Seminar is a hands-on interactive experience that will help the participants apply biblical, theological, historical, and cultural understanding to their workplace. The TOW Seminar will also provide tools for pastors to help equip their congregation members to be witnesses in the context of their 9 to 5 jobs. Case-studies, workplace testimonies and group discussion will be used in the seminar.
Dr. Rivera has a Ph.D. from Regent University, a M.Div. from RTS Orlando and a MBA from Rollins College, Winter Park, FL. He is currently Assistant Professor and Department Head of Pastoral Ministry at Nyack College, NY. | | DR CURRID WRITES NEW COMMENTARY ON ECCLESIASTIES | "Ecclesiastes: A Quest for Meaning"

Watch the video here. | | INAUGURAL ACADEMIC LECTURE WITH DR. COFFIELD | On Tuesday, November 24, 2015, Dr. James L. Coffield will be giving the third lecture, in a series of Inaugural Academic Lectures, at 2:00pm in the Pamplin Chapel on the Orlando campus. He will be sharing on current issues in Christian counseling as well as discussing the evolving landscape of Christian counseling as a whole. With the new emphasis on neuropsychology and changing cultural standards, the field of Christian soul care is trying to more clearly define itself. These lectures are open to the public, and you may invite guests. | | PREDESTINATION AND FREE WILL | Dr. Howard Griffith explores the question of how one can be predestined by God while still maintaining one's free will.
"If I have a free will, how can God have predestined me? Wasn't faith my choice?" Our conscious experience is that we make choices without coercion. Reformed theology does not question this freedom, but it does invite us to dig deeper.

LIGON DUNCAN | Chancellor and CEO of Reformed Theological Seminary, Dr. Ligon Duncan explains the five distinctives of RTS and why they are important. SCOTT REDD PAUL'S SEMINARY EPISTLES | RTS Washington President, Dr. Scott Redd, is featured as a guest blogger for Acts 29, a global church planting network. In this article Dr. Redd refers to Paul's letters to Timothy and Titus as "Seminary Epistles". He highlights the importance of these teachings in the training and equipping of young pastors. Dr. Redd also points out that Paul did not pick men for ministry merely based on their intellectual capacity and theological prowess. He is much more interested in their faithful character.

'05) | ![]() Last month Steffen and the congregation celebrated the 3rd anniversary of the Gospel Church in Munich. Since early September, Bavaria (Munich is the capital of Bavaria) has received between 8,000 and 10,000 new refugees each day (most are from Syria, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan). This is quite a challenge and also a great opportunity to share the gospel as 80% of them are muslim. | | Joel T. Moore (M.Div. '11) | ![]() Joel is associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church of San Angelo, TX. He was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area. He graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in History. After graduation, Joel moved to Atlanta to work with a non-profit urban youth ministry, Atlanta Youth Project, where he worked for fifteen years. He has taught elementary and middle school, has completed a chaplaincy program at Healthcare of Atlanta and has served in different churches in youth and growth ministries.

This award is presented annually to former St. Johns County public school students, who have returned to the area and dedicated their time and talents to serving their community. The International Conference on Baptist Studies VII, "Baptists and Revival," convened by Dr. David Bebbington was held in Manchester, England July 15-18, 2015. | | Marco Escalante (M.Div. '11) | ![]() Marco Escalante pastors Church Cordero de Dios (The Lamb of God) in Mexico City. The first Sunday in June they started using their new facility. They are renting the auditorium of Instituto Juarez High School. This new space is an answer to prayer, as it is larger and can accommodate about 160 people. It also has parking and is situated in an excellent location in Coyocán, a place that is well known and very accessible in the southern part of Mexico City. | |
