NEW FACULTY MEMBER APPOINTED
FOR RTS ORLANDO CAMPUS

The Reformed Theological Seminary Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. R. Michael Allen to the faculty of the Orlando campus. Dr. Allen will serve as the associate professor of systematic and historical theology beginning January 1st. Allen, a teaching elder in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, will complete the fall term at Knox Theological Seminary, where he has been teaching for the past five years as the D. James Kennedy Associate Professor of Systematic Theology.

RTSO President Don Sweeting said, "God has blessed us with a great new addition to our faculty, who will be an asset to RTS/Orlando for years to come. I am thrilled to have Mike Allen joining us.  Along with John Frame and Scott Swain, it gives us one of the strongest teaching and writing teams in theology in the country. Mike brings to the classroom a love for Christ, a love for the church, personal godliness, and top-notch academic credentials.  He is an excellent teacher.  He is winsomely reformed.  He is highly published and will bring strength to our students in the areas of Christian thought, systematics, ethics, and church history." Esaie Etienne (M.Div. '04)
Esaie, serving with Mission to the World in Haiti, reports attendance of more than 300 at a VBS camp held for the children in Docine Christian Academy and in Gonaives. The theme was "The Armor of God." This was followed by a family retreat for three churches, where they had 200 people attend and stay at the school compound for 3 1/2 days.

In July they hosted a medical team from Greenville, SC. "For the past three or four months, there has been an epidemic in Haiti called Chikungunya fever which is caused by mosquitoes," said Esaie. The medical team helped over 500 people during a 4-day clinic and 3 people prayed to receive Christ. His wife Natacha also came down with the fever. Although not completely recovered, she is doing better now.

The Gonaives children's home is in motion and they have paid for 51 acres of land. Funds are needed for clearing and fencing the land, which will be $40,000. The new school year in Haiti begins on Sept. 8. They expect the number of students and employees to increase this year, which will also create more expenses.
