RTS BOARD MEMBER RECEIVES AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE RTS board member, the Hon. Scott Redd, Sr., received the Distinguished Graduate Award from the United States Naval Academy Friday, March 22, in Annapolis, Md. This award came from his fellow USNA alumni in acknowledgment of an extraordinary career of service to the United States of America. Redd has given 40 years of his life to public service. JOHN MUETHER APPOINTED DEAN OF LIBRARIES
Reformed Theological Seminary is pleased to announce that John Muether, who established the library at RTS Orlando and has served as chief librarian for the past 24 years, will be assuming new responsibilities for the institution as of June 1. He will become the Dean of Libraries, which includes greater oversight of the development and resource-sharing of the RTS libraries among the six campuses. He will serve as the editor of the new online theological journal that RTS plans to launch with a tentative start date in Spring 2014. Read more here.
KRUGER LECTURES IN ATLANTA NOW AVAILABLE ON ITUNES Dr. Mike Kruger, president of RTS/Charlotte and professor of New Testament, gave lectures on "New Testament Canonization" at RTS/Atlanta. The lectures are now available here on RTS on iTunes U.
BRIARWOOD LOOKING TO SEND PCA GRADS TO CHURCH PLANTS IN IRELAND Briarwood Presbyterian Church, in Birmingham, Ala., has been working with Westminster Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church of Ireland in sending summer ministry teams to conduct the "Embers to a Flame" conference with them for church revitalization. Stated supply men are needed for a church plant in Cushendall, County Antrim, a replant in Kilmore, County Down, and a new mission in County Donegal, all in Northern Ireland. GEOFF SACKETT TO TEACH COURSE IN IOWA
We would like to make you aware of a special course being offered in Central Iowa this spring. From April 22-26, Reformed Theological Seminary will offer "History of Philosophy and Christian Thought" at Westkirk Presbyterian Church near Des Moines. This course will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will explain the main ideas that shape worldviews and will consider how to defend Christian truth from a Reformed perspective. Spiritual Emphasis Week was held at African Bible College Uganda March 18-22. Rev. Fred Greco (M.Div. '06), senior pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church in Katy, Texas, and Rev. Henry Morris (M.Div. '91), associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Dothan, Ala., were featured speakers.
Also present were ABC professor Bentry Mhango (M.Div.M. '07) and ABCU visiting professor Dr. Robert Penny (M.Div. '70), recently retired VP for development, RTS Jackson. ABCU visiting professor Rev. Tim Kay (M.Div. '94), formerly associate pastor, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Atlanta, Ga., was also there.
Laura Armstrong (MABS '09)
Laura, currently serving as library services assistant at RTS/Orlando, will become the senior library assistant on June 1. She has worked for RTS/Orlando for three years. She is also quite the artist and has painted a picture of the Orlando campus seen hanging near the administrative offices.
Michael Farrell (MATS '99)
Michael, the associate librarian at RTS/Orlando, will now become the library director beginning June 1, assuming the responsibilities that have been held by John Muether. Farrell has worked at RTS/Orlando for nine years and is ordained as a deacon at Reformation Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oviedo and is the author of the forthcoming book Modern Just War Theory: A Guide to Research (June 2013, Scarecrow Press).
Chad Grindstaff (M.Div. '05) Chad serves as church planter of Living Hope, currently meeting at Fairfield East Elementary School in northwest Cincinnati. He shares some of his sermons from a recent series titled "Words of the Cross: Reflections and Christ's Seven Sayings from the Cross." Listen here. He and his wife Erin have three children: Reed, Meredith and Anna, and they are in the process of adopting a foster child. Please keep them in your prayers.
Jake Hunt (M.Div. '07)
![]() Jake is the assistant pastor of Faith Community Church in Prague, Czech Republic. He reports that his sending church, Uptown Church in Charlotte, NC, sent them a great team to encourage and help the staff, working in music, children's ministry, long-range planning and problem solving. They ask for prayer for a situation with the building contract where they are holding services. Jake and his wife Melissa have three children: Sam, Foard and Eliza.
Danny Iverson (RTS Student) Danny, who plans to graduate this spring, is excited about being called as a church planter-in-residence at Perimeter Presbyterian Church in North Atlanta. He plans to plant a church in a low-income community. Danny is married to Kimberly and they have five children.
Brett Rayl (M.Div. '12) Brett was recently named director/team leader for Christ Bible Institute in Japan, replacing Michael Oh who is now director of Lausanne.
Lance Wallace ( MATS '07) Lance was featured in the Tampa Bay Times recently. He is the new priest of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Spring Hill, Fla. Read the article here.
