ATLA SERIALS TM DATABASE ACCESS FOR RTS GRADS EXTENDED
The libraries of RTS are pleased to announce that due to an extension granted, RTS alumni can continue to have access to the ATLA Serials™ Database through a short-term grant funded through the American Theological Library Association.  This database provides information on topics such as biblical studies, world religions, church history, and religion in social issues.

Produced by the American Theological Library Association, ATLA Serials provides access to more than 266,000 electronic journal articles and book reviews in all fields of religion. Full-text content is accessible from more than 130 journals selected by leading religion scholars in the U.S. Coverage begins in 1949, although indexing for some journal titles extends back into the nineteenth century.

Access to ATLA Serials is provided through the EBSCO host interface. Users will experience several easy-to-use, refined features, ensuring that the search experience is faster and more enjoyable. Key features include a simplified search screen, a smarter results page, and various enhanced search functions, such as limiters, image quick views, and much more.

Since grant program funding is given for a fixed number of alumni for 2010, the RTS Libraries must limit access to masters degree graduates.

1. If you wish to sign up, please contact the library at the campus from which you graduated.  Eligibility for access will be determined by each campus library. For Jackson, make your request here. For Orlando, make your request here. For Charlotte, make your request here. For Virtual, Atlanta, or Washington D.C., make your request here.

2. Once access is granted, the link is available on the RTS Alumni & Friends Community Web site.

3. You will need to also register on the alumni site if you are not already registered there.

ALUMNI SNIPPETS
Do you have an alumni snippet to share? Have you published a new book? Send it to the editor, here.

Michael J. Butterfield (M.Div. '08) recently accepted a call to Westminster Bible Presbyterian Church (WBPC), a PCA church in the Presbytery of Eastern Canada, in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Matthew Eusey (M.Div. '07, Orlando), pictured right with his family, has accepted a call to serve as pastor of disciple-making at Church of the Saviour in Wayne, Pa, after serving as interim pastor at Bellewood Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Bellevue, Wa.  Matthew and his wife Karyn have two sons and are expecting a daughter this August.

James H. Grant, Jr., (M.Div. '08), pastor of Trinity Reformed Church in Rossville, Tenn.,  has written a book published by Crossway in the Preaching the Word Commentary series titled 1 & 2 Thessalonians. The book is endorsed by Walter C. Kaiser, Jr., president emeritus and distinguished professor of Old Testament and Ethics, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and by Timothy George, dean of Beeson Divinity School and executive editor of Christianity Today.

The description says, "This Preaching the Word commentary delivers careful exposition of 1 & 2 Thessalonians, highlighting how we are to live in light of Christ’s second coming..." Click here to read more of the description and to order the book. Grant also teaches theology at Westminster Academy and lives in Tennessee with his wife Brandy and their four children: Macy, Trey, Nate, and Addie.

Michael Lee (M.Div. '05) and his wife Tricia are with Mission to the World/Mexico and have recently graduated from the Spanish Language Institute in Costa Rica and after getting their children settled in the states, will soon be heading to Mexico. Michael said, "As many of you are aware, the powers of darkness in Mexico are exerting themselves through narcotrafficking in such a severe way it is impacting the day to day lives of many including even the team in Monterrey. However, the Lees see this time of tribulation in Mexico in the same light as our leadership team in Monterrey does; as an opportunity."

Stephen Maginas (M.Div. ‘10) was ordained Sunday May 29, 2011, at Christ Church Presbyterian by the Metro Atlanta Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America.  Stephen, and his wife Lesley, have been called to Athens, Greece, to plant the first joint partnership between Mission to the World and Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) there.  This will also be the first RUF ministry in Europe and this is an exciting work done at the invitation from and cooperation with the Greek Evangelical Church.  Maginas, whose family is from Greece, has been involved with RUF at both Mercer and Emory Universities in Georgia. For more info click here.

Scott Moffatt
(MABS '09), pictured right with his wife Katrina and their children, has been a campus minister with Campus Crusade for Christ for the past 12 years at the University of North Florida. He is moving from Jacksonville to Gainesville to work at the University of Florida.  Pray for their family's transition.

John Perritt (M.Div. '09), youth pastor at Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church in Ridgeland, Miss., has written Reel Thinking: Christians and Film, Illuminated. Perritt says in his description, "Are you tired of films at the local cineplex that are moral garbage? Are you tired of Christians saying there’s nothing but moral garbage at the local cineplex? Some Christians need to check their self-righteousness at the ticket booth and others need to stop taking too much liberty watching films that cause them to sin. The bottom line is, we really must challenge the way we think about and engage with film if we want to use it for God’s glory. In Reel Thinking I try to get Christians to see that film is a part of God’s creation. Just as God speaks to us through the mountains and the sunset, he speaks to us through modern-day film. Even though the general revelation of film should not replace the special revelation of Scripture, movies can get us to grasp deep truths in a way nothing else can. Read more of the description here. The book is due out in August.

Peter Siaway (M.Div.M '98) is on the faculty of African Bible College (ABC) and serves as dean of admissions and professor of mathematics, political science, evangelism, discipleship and mentoring, and physical education. He is also writing his Doctorate of Ministry thesis with RTS/Jackson. As a graduate of African Bible College, he also pastored Yekepa Inland Church from 1983-1994. He joined the ABC staff back in 1991, but resigned to seek further study at RTS. Now that the 14-year war in Libia is over, and ABC has re-opened there, he has returned to serve on the faculty of ABC. Siaway is married and has four daughters. His family lives in the States while he serves in Liberia, however, he is currently in the U.S. until August.

Correction:
In the last e-letter, in the alumni snippets, we shared an email for Lindy Davidson who is collecting medical supplies for a mission trip to Nicaragua in July. The correct email should have beenlindy@lindydavidson.net. We apologize for this error.
