DR. JOHN MUETHER WRITES ABOUT VIRTUAL FRIENDSHIP
Dr. Muether, professor of church history at RTS/Orlando wrote about virtual friendship and social networking. He writes, “I have a colleague who has 1,035 Facebook friends. By Facebook standards, that is probably unremarkable. At the same time, of course, it is also a lie. Friendship is humanly impossible on such a mass scale. What results is exhibitionistic too-much-information for most: your colonoscopy this morning is really not my business. Meanwhile, those who are genuinely close to you wonder why they learned of the death of your mother from your twitter that instantly informed untold masses. " Read more here.

DR. PAUL HELM TO TEACH AT JACKSON DURING WINTER TERMReady to defend the faith? Perhaps Dr. Paul Helm could help with new class on Apologetics, Jan 24-28 at RTS/Jackson. This is sometimes expressed as failure to integrate "head" and "heart". This seminar-style course will address this issue using various models of integration drawn from notable figures in Christian history working in the Augustinian tradition. Students will read Augustine, Anselm, Calvin, and Edwards. Dr. Paul Helm is a teaching fellow at Regent College in Canada (since 2005). He also taught at Highland Theological College and was the J.I. Packer professor of theology and philosophy at Regent College. Prior to this he was professor of history and philosophy of religion at King's College, London, from 1993-2000.
